Lynn Kenny: The new ladies tees were a resounding success on tour...

If all tournaments started as spectacularly as this year's Ladies Scottish Open has, then the world would undoubtedly be a better place; and if you thought the Masters' par three contest was special, then think again and take a look at some of the Ladies European Tour's finest players do battle off a luxury yacht.

With the LET returning to Loch Lomond's jaw-dropping Carrick course this week, home favourites Clare Queen and Lynn Kenny took on European #1 Sophie Gustafson and fellow Swede Johanna Westerberg in a nearest to pin challenge to the picturesque 15th green from the Celtic Warrior yacht. You couldn't have written a better script, as the Scots convincingly swept away the Swedish challengers to win a two night stay in the luxurious De Vere Mansion House at The Carrick. Let's hope this is a sign of things to come for the week ahead, and well, forever.

The ladies tour has battled through difficult times but is outwardly optimistic in its climb to catch the LPGA Tour in popularity and status. The image on the Tour has improved and there's some kind of cultural handover going on between the old guard and its brighter, sexier contemporary breed. And even if youre used to the top-tier facilities of European Tour golf, The Carrick is a cracking venue but then De Vere, a well known name in the world of hotels and resorts, boasts an impressive golfing line up that includes Slaley Hall and Carden Park.

A certain member of the In Golf We Trust team was lucky enough to blag his way onto The Carrick recently and hasn't stopped going on about it since. Trish Johnson certainly feels that the game is going in the right direction. "As the general image of the game has progressed," she explains, "so too has the standard of golf."

We couldn't have put it better ourselves Trish. Let battle commence and we'll give you the inside track on events as they progress.
