On this day in 1995, John Daly added a second Major title to his improbable career portfolio, winning a four-hole playoff against Italy's Costantino Rocca at the Old Course in St Andrews.

Daly demonstrated a delicate short game to match his fearsome power off the tee, while Rocca made the play-off following a terrible chip to 18 followed by a miraculous 70ft putt holed from the Valley of Sin.

Meanwhile, in 1986 it was joy unconfined as Prince Andrew tied the knot with Sarah Ferguson at Westminster Abbey, with an estimated television audience of 500million reveling in the occasion. Ten years later they divorced.
