The Golden Bear like you've never seen him before...

What have we learned from golf this week? Well, we've learned seven things (as usual), including the fact that bruins are putting spectators' lives at risk, that those South Korean ladies are pretty good at golf and that where there's a blame, there's a pretty hefty claim...

1. Golf courses are dangerous places (part 1084)

Nothing to do with bombs or anything like that, rather a big black bear that decided to walk across the fairway at the US Senior's Open. The bear was captured live on national television as it made its way across towards the fairway towards the crowd on the 12th hole. Sure Craig Stadler would have wrestled him away if he'd needed to...

2. The female Asian contingent are quite good at golf

Especially the ones from South Korea. First, In Bee Park won the US Open earlier this year and last week, Ji-Yai Shin took the spoils at the Women's British Open. What with Annika Sorenstam gone, will us Europeans ever win another major?

3. Those pesky golf vandals don't know when to stop

Just when we thought we could go a week without a story about a golf course being destroyed... This time three idiots wreaked havoc at Oakland City GC, Indiana, stealing dozens of golf balls, driving a cart into a lake and causing $20,000 worth of damage. Like we said, idiots...

4. Michelle Wie should just let it go (part 572)

Look Michelle, well done for giving it a go on the PGA Tour, but another missed cut? Despite an opening round of 73, Wie cocked things up with a second round 80 at the Reno-Tahoe Open. Even Annika Sorenstam said she'd do better teeing it up with the ladies, and you can't argue with her, surely?

5. Hunter Mahan needs to make his mind up

First he says he doesn't like the Ryder Cup because there are too many boring dinners, the next thing he's telling the media he wish he hadn't said it all. Either stick to your guns or shut up Hunter, because nobody likes a golfer that runs his mouth...

6. Where there's a blame, there's a claim

Especially when it comes to golf. Take Thomas Guhl, who was hit by a golf ball whilst driving in Farmingdale, New Jersey in 2006. The ball was launched by a mower and the smashed glass from his windscreen cut his eye, impairing his vision as a result. That'll be $725,000 please...

7. Ashok Mankad knows how to pass away properly

Despite passing away in his sleep aged 61 last Friday, former Indian opening batsman Mankad spend his final day on the golf course before heading up to heaven with all the other cricketing and golfing legends.
