Talk about Ryder Cup wildcard handbags, eh? Grumpy old Colin Montgomerie has continued his verbal assault on Ian Poulter, who denied earlier this week that he'd already been given a wildcard pick from Captain Faldo (great name for a superhero that - Ed). Granted, Poults is good mates with Faldo, but there's no need for Monty to accuse our spiky-haired mate of having a 'hotline' to the European captain.

'Nice to be told what to do by one so young and so inexperienced,' moaned the Scot. 'Is anyone else speaking to Nick? No. Self-praise is no praise.'

Poulter, being a straight-talking kind of guy, said,'I don't need to get in the discussion of Monty's discussions. He's got enough work to do this week to try to make the side himself.' That's a great comeback, to be fair...

One IGWT staff member has already asked to change one of his wildcard picks from Monty to Clarkey. And you can't blame him really, because after this latest outburst, Monty's chances of getting the call from Mr.Faldo are about as slim as Anna Rawson's waistline...
