Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano: 'I hope nobody notices my wet patch...'

Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano nabbed the British Masters title from defending champ Lee Westwood's hamster-like hands after three play-off holes. The Spaniard made a cracking up and down to force extra time, and some scrappy play from Worksop's finest (Donald Pleasence? - Ed) gave Fernandez-Castano his first win of 2008.

It was another fine weekend for our Bet Detective, who'll be laughing all the way to the bank as Michael Campbell finished third and Jeev Milkha Singh tied fifth. That extra bit of moula should see him through until Christmas.

Mikael Lundberg (4) and Magnus Carlsson (T7) assured a Swedish presence in the top ten, and Ross 'I'm so boring but I'm good at golf' Fisher's sterling year continued with yet another top-top finish (T7). Onto Fife next week for the Alfred Dunhill Links. Let's hope Hugh Grant stays at home...
