Nick Faldo: The Matthew Corbett of the golfing world

When I was 19 and had a week off from university, invariably it would involve feats of drinking and laziness that would have had my GP crying into his stethoscope if only he knew. Ollie's week off is more likely to have involved sustained periods of practise and rest. As such, an each way bet on the precocious Mr Fisher at 125/1 is not a bad prospect. Similarly, if Paddy Power were to offer you 125/1 on me having renal failure by thirty, you should bite their hand off.

Oliver Fisher to Win Quinn Direct British Masters @ 125/1

As Oliver Fisher is something like 50th reserve and unlikely to play in this week's Mercedes Benz Championship, the task of fulfilling the pun based portion of our betting preview has fallen to his namesake, Ross Fisher. Ross won the KLM Open three weeks ago and at 66/1 is at a good each way price to win and 25/1 to finish as the top GB player.

My college trip to Switzerland at the age of 17 was mainly centered around cheap schnapps and clumsy attempts to sneak off with girls, Oliver Fisher will hopefully have slightly more lofty ambitions and his first win IS definitely getting closer. Last weeks tied ninth score of minus eight was only four shots off Marc Warren's winning 12 under. As such, the bookies have slashed Oliver's odds from the usual 150/1 or so down to 80/1. Still worth a couple of quid each way.

80/1 Outright Win

Olly narrowly missed the cut last week as namesake, Ross Fisher, took the KLM Open. This week, he is 22/1 to place in the top five of the Johnnie Walker Championship, 11/1 to finish in the top ten and 125/1 to win the tournament outright.

Top Five Finish 22/1

As he was last week, Oliver is 33/1 to be the top GB and Ireland player. For a safer bet than an outright tournament win, Fisher is 50/1 to be the leader after the first round.

Top GB and Ireland Player 33/1
First Round Leader 50/1
