Lucas Glover: 'where's the flippin' lighthouse gone?'

Lucas Glover's putting gave him consecutive scores of 66 and a one shot lead a10-under after the second round of the Verizon Heritage. Hot on his heels are defending champ Boo Weekley at 9-under, Anthony Kim at 8-under and Cliff Kresge, Stephen Ames and Stewart Cink at 7-under.

There are over 30 players within six shots of the top, with InGolfWeTrust  faves Nick Dougherty and Freddie Jacobsen at 5-under and Camilo Villegas at 4-under.

Justin Rose's knackered back caused him to withdraw from the tournament before the second round began, while big names who missed the cut included Ernie Els, Fred Funk and one of our tips for the weekend Zach Johnson. That's the last time The Bet Detective sticks money on him...

Davis Love III - much better than Ice Age II (don't ever crack that lame joke again... Ed)

Davis Love III, Justin Leonard and Lucas Glover share the first round lead at Harbour Town with 5-under par scores of 66. There are about a million players within three shots of the lead (OK, it's just 39...), including Stewart Cink, Camilo Villegas, Brian Davis and Nick Dougherty at 4-under. Go Dough!

It's hardly unusual to see half the field spread over six shots, but one of the shortest courses on tour at 6973 yards, Harbour Town may well give us a nail-biting finale on Sunday, with a load of players in contention going down the stretch. That's our theory, anyway.

Michael Lorenzo-Vera: 'I laugh with contempt at your petty ignorance'.

Michael Lorenzo-Vera leads the field after a first round 67 and before you have the sheer audacity to ask 'who the hell is he?', take a moment to study last year's Challenge Tour rankings, look right up to the top and then realise just how limited your knowledge of golf is.

23-year-old Lorenzo-Vera is aiming to be the third French tour winner in Europe on the trot, following wins for Gregory Bourdy and Tomas Levet. He's one shot clear of seven players including China's Li Chao, who is ranked 1261st in the world and InGolfWeTrust tip Zane Scotland.

We won't see Tiger Woods back in action until mid to late May after his Tuesday surgery

Call it a Big Cat nap, if you will. There's no need to raise the alarm (although Tiger Woods made the announcement himself on his official website early Wednesday), but Tiger is going to be out of action from four to six weeks after having arthroscopic surgery on his left knee.

After finishing runner-up to Trevor Immelman at the Masters, Woods flew to Park City, Utah for surgery to repair cartilage damage, which was performed by Dr Thomas Rosenberg, who also operated on the same knee in 2002.

The knee has been troubling Woods since last summer, although no one connected to the world No. 1 said it had affected his play.

"I made the decision to deal with the pain and schedule the surgery for after the Masters," Woods said in his statement on his website. "The upside is that I have been through this process before and know how to handle it. I look forward to working through the rehabilitation process and getting back to action as quickly as I can."

The surgery means that if all goes well, Woods should be ready to tackle the season's next major - at the US Open at Torrey Pines in mid-June. Woods won his first four starts of the season, but he will miss the chance to defend his title at the Wachovia Championship. It is doubtful that he will return in time for The Players Championship at Sawgrass, and he probably also will miss Jack Nicklaus' Memorial Tournament at the end of May.
