IGWT with Constantina Rocca: 'Ten quid and the droid is yours, Tino...'

Just when we thought things couldn't get any better up at the De Vere Seniors Championship, we bumped into some crazy fella on the practice green called Costantino Rocca.

You may remember him as the play-off loser from the 1995 Open at St.Andrews, but we know him as the champagne-loving Italian who wanted Billy Android on his bag for the week. That was probably the drink talking, however...

Sam Torrance & Gordon Brand Jnr: 'Put the knife down, Gord...'

We love a good shindig here at IGWT, so you can imagine how happy we were when we stumbled upon Gordon Brand Jnr's 50th birthday celebrations... in Newcastle of all places. Sam Torrance (looking particularly radiant after a week's holiday in Barbados as well as being 'off the booze') was there to help good 'ol Gord celebrate his half ton...



 Fred Funk: Seen bigger bushes in his time...

A run of birdie, eagle, birdie propelled Players champion Fred Funk into the clubhouse lead on the opening day of the US Seniors Open - one shot clear of John Cook and the chasing pack.

British Seniors Open play-off loser, Cook, put last week’s disappointment behind him by shooting a four-under 66 while Argentinean Eduardo Romero heads the list of players on three-under, which also includes Tom Kite.



Good thing they finished before dark, because Bernhard's eyesight's not what it used to be ...

Bernard Langer still knows how to win at age 50. The German may have designs on becoming the oldest man to win the Masters in a few weeks' time, but for now Langer might need a bit of a lie-down after his gruelling victory at the Toshiba Classic on the US Champions Tour in Newport Beach Country Club in Southern California. Langer birdied the 54th hole of regulation to force a playoff with Jay Haas, then the pair went seven extra holes before Langer made a birdie and Haas lipped out a three-foot birdie attempt ...
