Carl Pettersson: Plays golf like a Swede, eats like an American...

Carl Pettersson (another Swede, that's right) bagged himself the Wyndham Championship with a final round 68. The big boned Swede finished on 21 under par, two strokes clear of Scott McCarron.

Pettersson birdied three of the final four holes to win his third PGA Tour win. 'I'm Swedish, but I feel American to be honest with you,' he said. Wonder how that remark will go down with Nick Faldo as he considers his wildcard picks...

Other players to finish in the top ten included Rich Beem, J.J Henry and Glaswegian Martin Laird (all of whom jumped into the playoffs as a result) Tim Clark and Kevin Streelman.

Justin Bolli and Lee Janzen were the other two players to creep into proceedings at The Barclays this week. Marco Dawson, Brett Rumford, Todd Hamilton, Tag Ridings and Gavin Coles, however, all played their way out of the playoffs... silly boys.

Carl Pettersson: Healthy...

Just what's going on with these Swedes? After Mikael Lundberg's European Tour victory at the Russian Open two weeks ago, compatriot Carl Pettersson is the man leading the way at the Wyndham Championship after a record-breaking second round performance.

Pettersson shot a nine-under-par 61 to go three clear of Garrett Willis and Scott McCarron (64). The, how shall we put it, cuddly Swede shot 30 through this opening nine holes, with six of his 11 birdies coming on the front nine.

It means that he beats the previous Wyndham record of 62 and his 15-under total of 125 also equals the record for the lowest opening 36 holes of a PGA event, sharing the record with Tiger, Mark Calcavecchia, Tom Lehman and Corey Pavin. So he's in good company.

Steve Stricker: Always had trouble keeping track of his ball in the dark...

It's playoff time on the PGA Tour, with things kicking off at Ridgewood CC for The Barclays this week. This betting malarkey hasn't been going my way as of late, but if I back last year's winner, Steve Stricker, things can only get better... surely?

Padraig Harrington & Nick Faldo: 'Maybe I'll give you a wild card pick, Pad...'

Traditionally, players who use mallet putters aren't the best at holing out on the greens. Padraig Harrington pretty much threw that theory out of the window at Oakland Hills yesterday, however. The buck-toothed Irishman's final round 66 (his second in as many days) can be largely put down to his incredible skills with the putter.

Porridge nailed three clutch putts in the final three holes, none of which ever really looked in doubt of finding the cup. He looked completely in the zone yesterday and produced a final 18 holes worthy of winning any major. The only thing that's left to sort out now is that stupid face he pulls after every shot...

Camilo Villegas: That can't be good for his fingers, surely?

IGWT Loves...

. Camilo Villegas' final round outfit.
. Padraig Harrington's putting. Mint.
. Sky Sport's tactical use of Butch Harmon...
. European dominance.
. No Tiger. There, we said it...

IGWT Hates...

. Padraig Harrington's teeth...
. And the fact that he's still the world's third best golfer. Where's the justice?
. Waiting eight months for another major...
. Pesky American kids in the galleries.
. Henrik Stenson for throwing a hissy fit.
