Tiger Woods: Now we all know what he wears at home...

Crooked knee or not, he just can't stay out of the limelight, can he? Tell the media to bog off... take a break Tiger, it's the least you deserve. You don't want to? Fair enough. So what's the latest on Tiger Woods, then? Well, after speaking to the media for the first time since his knee surgery, we now know that he's got to wear to a full, straight knee brace and will be on crutches for at least three weeks.

Tiger's still unsure as to when he'll be back ripping it off the tee and winning trophies, however. 'I really don't know. We'll have to see how this thing heals and everyone heals at a different rate.' It's only when Woods starts the rehab process that we'll get a rough idea of when he'll be good to go again. Until then, Phil Mickelson and the rest of the guys on tour can sleep comfortably at night... and IGWT can carry on putting his face on funny photos.

Phil Mickelson (far right): 'Honest, he told me he wanted surgery on his right knee as well...'

Just over a week after we all learned that Tiger's left knee had packed in, the big cat's undergone surgery and, much to the dismay of Phil mickelson and all the other golfers on tour, doctors say the procedure went well and that they expect him to make a full recovery.

The surgery on Tiger's Anterior Cruciate Ligament was performed by the same doctors who performed arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in April; Dr. Thomas D. Rosenberg and Dr. Vernon J. Cooley (could they sound any more like doctors? - Ed).

Both doctors say they were 'pleased with the results,' and that Tiger's knee shouldn't cause him any long-term problems so long as he sticks to his rehabilitation and training programs. We reckon he'll be back on tour next week, knowing Tiger...

Who else is going to execute a walkaway quadruple fist pump so passionately now that Tiger's sofa and bed-bound for the rest of the year? Monty? Phil Mickelson? I don't think so. In an attempt to fill this painful void in all of our lives, we've compiled what we believe to be the big cat's 10 finest celebrations so far...

#10 Drop To The Knee Upwards Fist Pump

Creativity Rating: 8/10
Technical Difficulty: 4/10
Execution Rating: 6/10
Passion Rating: 5/10
Overall Rating: 5/10

Judge's Notes
This celebration came in the middle of Tiger's little-known experimental period; a time when he was in two minds whether to stick with the uppercut fist pump that had served him so well, or try something completely radical and new that would shock golf fans around the world as well USGA and PGA Tour bigwigs. Sure, it's pretty to look at, but it's simply too lacklustre and unorthodox a celebration to feature any higher on our list. In the same way that you don't go to Italy to eat burgers, you don't go to watch Tiger Woods serve up celebrations like this...

Nick Faldo: 'Cheers, Tiger...'

In doctor speak, this is the problem that Tiger faces with his knee: "Tiger will be forced to undergo reconstructive Anterior Cruciate Ligament surgery on his left knee. In addition to the knee surgery, Woods will require the time off to rehabilitate a double stress fracture of his left  tibia that was discovered last month. The stress fractures were attributed to his to Woods' intense rehabilitation and preperations for the US Open."

For us normal human beings, that means Tiger's out for the rest of the season. Always look on the bright side, though, Tiger...

What IGWT loves about Tiger being out for the rest of the season...

1. The Ryder Cup's in the bag for Europe.
2. There's more chance of a Brit winning the Open.
3. No more pathetic high five attempts between him and Steve Williams.
4. A lot less 'get in the hole' shouts from Yank galleries.
5. Better odds on other players.
6. He might come back with a new hairdo.
7. He's made Retief Goosen look like a proper idiot.

What IGWT hates about Tiger being out for the rest of the season...
1. It's Tiger.
2. A major without Tiger is like a World Cup without Brazil.
3. No more fist pumps.
4. What happens if he comes back and he's crap at golf?
5. What happens if he comes back and he's fat?

So, if it makes you feel any better Tiger, it's actually better for the rest of us that you're out. And if you never play golf again, always remember what Graeme McDowell said: "Tiger is the first person to win a major on one leg - he's the greatest of all time."

Retief Goosen and David Frost: 'Nice sweat patches, Retief...'

First there was Gary Player running his mouth about players pumping themselves full of steroids, and now Retief Goosen has come out and said what we all probably thought at lsome point during last week at Torrey Pines. Asked whether he thought Tiger had been faking it during his play-off with Rocco Mediate, the two-time major winner said, "I think so. It just seemed when he hit bad shots his knee was in pain and on his good shots he wasn't," said Goosen.

Obviously fearing some sort of Tiger backlash, however, Retief later explained his comments to The Times newspaper by saying, "I was being light-hearted. No one but Tiger knows how badly hurt he was. But if he was really badly hurt, he would have withdrawn wouldn't he?" Not really, Retief. That's why Tiger's the best player in the world, because he can play through the pain. What we really want to see now is a Tiger, Retief pairing in next month's Open at Royal Birkdale...
