Whatever you do, don't buy any giant oversized foam drivers from a guy who looks like Jesper Parnevik on the internet, OK? ...

Two people were arrested on Tuesday evening in North Carolina and charged with possessing counterfeit golf goods with intent to sell. The raid was made police using information supplied by Acushnet, manufacturers of Titleist, FootJoy and Cobra equipment.

Three thousand fake items were seized in China following raids on four counterfeit factories last August. The problem is such that the US Golf Manufacturers Anti-Counterfeiting Working Group (featuring Acushnet, Callaway Golf, Cleveland Golf, Nike Golf, PING and TaylorMade) is working overtime to protect itself from fraud.

Auction site eBay is considered the destination of the majority of fake clubs. So be careful before you buy…

i bought a set of callaway big bertha irons off ebay in janruary this year, paid £350, on arrival i checked the reference number on the 8 iron with callaway and they confirmed that they were fake goods, i contacted the seller who apologised and after lots of aggro i eventually got my money back and an extra £50 so i would not put a bad feedback on ebay, so i agreed and once the money had cleared put the bad feedback on and reported what had happened to callaway, but to be honest they didnt seem too interested stating there was too many for them to do anything about it but would pass the information on to their appropriate section, i informed them that the same seller had at least 20 more sets for sale on ebay at that very moment, i even gave them the postal address in leicester where they were dispatched from along with email addresses and telephone numbers. to this day i still have not heard anything from callaway, i ended up buying from the preowned site in america and paid £320 for the same big bertha 06 model only to my shock and horror to get another bill several weeks later for a further £70 import tax, learn from my mistakes.....
cheers neil
