Rolf Muntz: He's hiding behind the unbrella, Rolf...

Tour veteran, local favourite and the excellently-named Rolf Muntz leads the KLM Open after firing a six-under-par 64 in the first round. Muntz has a one stroke lead over England's John Bickerton and Soren Hansen... two players we'd usually back.

The chasing pack includes Noren Alexander, Simon Khan, Philip Price (da iawn Phil - Ed) and Justin Rose, who needs a third-place finish to secure a place on the Ryder Cup team. Our best mate Michael Campbell shot a promising two-under-par 68, which if truth be told, seems like his best round for years.

In a mixed day for our picks, Benn Barham fared best with a 69, which was good enough to put him in a tie for 27th. Anton Haig finished one-over (T59), and Nick Dougherty lost a ball with his second shot of the day, hit a bird later on in the round and ended up three-over (T99).
