Angelina Jolie: 'Do you think Porridge needs the number of a good dentist?'

1. Padraig Harrington is quite good at golf*

Two majors on the trot? This bloke's clearly quite good at golf, shame about his teeth, however. *His victories at The Open and PGA Championship don't count because Tiger wasn't there. Sorry Porridge...

2. Golf and politics don't mix (Part 1096)

Why are politicians so godamn corrupt? Allan Binder used to be a respected Republican legislator from Huntington until he was allegedly caught receiving $18,000 in bribes to steer lucrative golf course deals in the direction of some bloke called Neal Trabich. He pleaded not guilty to the charges in court yesterday (we have to say that to avoide being sued or something).

3. Orville Moody will be missed

The 1969 US Open champion passed away on Friday aged 74 due to complications from multiple myeloma. Moody was nicknamed 'Sarge' because of his time with the US Army, and his US Open victory (his only PGA Tour win) came at Champions GC, where he came from three shits behind Miller Barber to win.

4. Luke Wilson knows a good golf course

The Hollywood actor named his five favourite golf courses recently as Sunningdale, Bandon Dunes, Cypress Point, the Ben Crenshaw designed Maidstone GC and Austin GC in Texas. Good choices Luke, but where's Rodean pitch 'n putt,?

5. Angelina Jolie's got nothing on golf receptionists

Jolie may be one of the sexiest women in the world, but she ain't got nothing on Alison Carroll. The 23-year-old golf receptionist from Croydon has bagged herself a role as the public face (and body) of Tom Raider's Lara Croft. Her job will involve travelling around the world, meeting shedloads of computer game and movie geeks...

6. Golf carts are dangerous things (Part 267)

It's been a bad week for the golf cart, that's for sure. Two lives have been taken in the past week as a result of the humble cart; one man drove off the side of the mountain and was found three days later and a 12-year-old lad was tragically killed on after the golf cart he was passenger in flipped over.

7. This golf malarkey is much better without Tiger

There, we said it. Surely we're no the only one's that think golf's been a whole lot more fun without Tiger? Don't get us wrong, we'll welcome him back with open arms once his dodgy knee's better, but for the time being, we're happy with the way things are...
