Darren Clarke: And the award for the worst dressed family goes to...

Well, he couldn't have written a better script, really. Darren Clarke came into the KLM Open knowing he'd have to play his best golf to stand a chance of getting a Ryder Cup wildcard pick and, low and behold, he's only gone and won the bloody thing.

The Ulsterman capped a sterling week with a final round 66 to finish 16-under par, four strokes ahead of Paul McGinley (who finished with a majestic 64)... another name we reckon Nick Faldo will consider as he names his two wildcards next Sunday.

Despite starting the day with three birdies on the trot, Henrik Stenson could only manage a 68, which was enough to give him third spot. Good to know us Europeans will have him on board at Valhalla next month. Other names we know and love to grab a top ten spot included Lee Slattery (T4), Soren Hansen (T6) and Michael Campbell (T8).

Shot of the tournie goes to Thailand's Thongchai Jaidee, who holed a 190-yard on the par-five 12th for an albatross... that was probably a pitching wedge for him (a six iron actually - Ed).
