Lee lets his thoughts on Tiger's fitness advice be known

On this day, in 1999, Lee Westwood won the Canon European Masters by two strokes over Thomas Bjorn after recording a 14-under-par 270.

Lee Westwood was born in Worksop in 1973, he won his first professional tournament in 1996 and since then has won 17 times on the European Tour, four times on the Japanese Tour and has seven other professional wins to his name. He has yet to win a major but has played twice in the Ryder Cup. Other famous Worksoppians include Bruce 'David' Dickinson and Donald 'Blofeld' Pleasence.

Also on this day, in 1698, Tsar Peter 1st of Russia imposed a tax on beards in an effort to get rid of archaic customs.

Meanwhile, in 1973, the Voyager 1 space station was launched. Still operational today, the 70's fittings, linoleum floors and flock wallpaper are in serious need of a change.

And it's Zhang Zhong! As they say in China, to; son of a genius and musician in his own right, Dweezil Zappa (38), satirical genius Chris Morris (42) and slightly less than genius Raquel Welch (67). Today would have been the 67th birthday of raving Queen frontman, Freddie Mercury if he hadn't died of AIDS in 1991.
