"Girls, any idea who that is...?"
Even Anna Rawson can't get Peter Alliss excited about women's golf.

'One smart-arse comment and you're dead...'

With the big names battling it out in The Russian Open, we're left with a smattering of small-time contenders like Tiger Woods, Jim Furyk, Phil Mickelson, Vijay Singh, Ernie Els , Padraig Harrington and Sergio Garcia to do battle. Our natural inclination to do things the wrong way round has dictated our picks, which is why we've gone with a couple of rank outsiders. Go figure, as they say in Akron...

KJ Choi @ 33-1: He let us down at The Open, when we thought he might come through on the last day to snatch a place in the top five. But just to show we don't hold grudges, here we go wasting precious company funds all over again...
Ian Poulter @ 80-1: Stop sniggering at the back there... Poulter's got a tendency to show his mettle a couple of times every season in the US and we're guessing it might be this week.
Chris DiMarco @ 100-1: Irresistible odds, this is the pick of the InGolfWeTrust team member who tipped Gregory Havret at 150-1. If he does it again, we'll buy him a big hat.

Delighted though we were to see golfing calendar girl Gulbis win The Evian Masters last week, in our experience she doesn't have enough devil in her to do this kind of thing. Hell of a shot, though, even if it was staged...

'Bet Harry Vardon couldn't do this...'

Just as we were about to hang our heads in despair at yet another tedious Swilken Bridge photo call, Paula Creamer makes her own tiny piece of golfing history with the first recorded cartwheel by a professional golfer across the 18th fairway at St Andrews.

Worth checking out the New York Times' feature on the Women's British Open, now that he 'No Women, No Dogs' signs have been taken down (permanently, we hope) at St Andrews.

Fergus Slattery: 'What are you laughing at...?'

The InGolfWetrust offspring are back on the diet of dry biscuits and gruel as we punt our way hopelessly through the Gregory Havret millions. This event is one of the toughest to call all year – they’ve had first time winners since its inception in 2003 – and so we reckon the experts will have just as little clue as us, which fills us full of misguided optimism:-

Lee Slattery @ 25-1: Played well last week at the German Bank Championship, hoping he’ll keep it going this week so he can start paying off the flat he’s just bought round the corner from Birkdale.
Matthew Zions @ 50-1: One of those crazy name, crazy guys bets. An Aussie based in Denver, he’s showed little form having battled his way through every qualifying round to make the tour. Also lists ‘Friends’ among his interests on the European Tour website, which is taking dullness to new levels.

The www.tipandwin.co.uk free tip:-

Chris Gane @ 50-1:
Most of the big boys from the European Tour who are not eligible for the WGC  have decided to take the week off rather than mingle with the lesser lights of the Challenge Tour, just in case the whiff of 2 star hotels starts to rub off!  If he makes it past the over-zealous Moscow custom officials we think Chris Gane with his recent run of top 10 finishes and the experience of his five previous visits to Moscow has a great chance of filling his suitcase with plenty of vodka and euros for the economy flight home.
