"Take it back, the steering wheel's on the wrong side"

Well then, who came away from Cologne smelling like roses?:  Of the two Danes who were leading going in to the final day, Soren Hansen had the better round and ended up winning by four shots over Philip Archer and Alistair Forsyth.
So how did it go down?: Bjorn briefly led after birdieing the first and second holes but then made bogey at the fifth and double bogey at the sixth. Soren Hansen made two birdies by the turn but then chipped in for eagle at the 13th with a second eagle of the round at the 15th to take the win and get the monkey off his back.
Monkey?: Well he hadn't won on Tour since 2002 but he finally managed to turn his excellent recent form into a win. He described his close misses as like having a monkey on his back and blamed himself for looking over his shoulder too much.
I think I'd look over my shoulder if I had a monkey on my back: Looking at the other players he meant.
And what would he have seen if he did look back?: He would have seen Bjorn finish five shots back, tied for fourth with Bradley Dredge at 12 under and Lee Westwood again failing to replicate his awesome opening round and finishing at minus 11 alongside Simon Khan and another Dane, Soren Kjeldsen.
How does all this effect the Seve and Ryder Cups?: Archer and Hansen both claim Seve Cup spots while Hansen moved to second in the early Ryder Cup points.
And the InGolfWeTrust tips?: Don't ask
I just did:  None of them played badly, but at tied 27th, Langer was the highest placed of the three.
Danke: Nein problem.

'Oh, you can tell by the way I use my walk...'

So they're still playing huh?: Uh, yeah, why wouldn't they be?
They haven't all just packed up and awarded Woods both trophies to save some time?: They might as well have, Tiger still leads by three shots after a round of 64 and shows no signs of letting up. He birdied the third and fourth but bogeyed the seventh just to prove he is human, then closed with five birdies in the final ten holes.
Has anyone looked like catching him?: Mark Calcavecchia shot a 63 to keep some sort of pressure on Woods and even tied with him briefly after an eagle at the 15th. Zach Johnson shot the low round of the day with an excellent ten-under-par 60 but would need something just as special in his final round as he sits six shots off the lead.
I don't see any of the other FedEx hopefuls in that round-up...: Sabbatini was the only player to shoot a sub-par round and even then he's still twelve shots back. They could award Woods the cup now, like you said, and no-one would complain much...
They could have done that four weeks ago couldn't they?: Now you're being silly, but yeah probably...

Nancy would often swap trophies for icy replicas

On this day, in 1969, a 12 year old Nancy Lopez won the New Mexico Women's Amateur, crushing 23 year old Mary Bryan 10 and 8 in the final match.

Nancy Lopez was born in California in 1957 and has enjoyed one of the most successful careers ever in women's golf. In her rookie season she won nine LPGA events and was named Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year. In total she has 48 LPGA wins to her name and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1987 at the age of 30.

Also on this day, in 1949, the first episode of Road Runner was aired, The Fast and The Furry-ous. Vin Diesel starred in a popular cinema remake some years later.

Meanwhile, in 1955, Juan Peron is deposed as leader of Argentina, probably for all that singing.

And it's Eemil Sillanpää! As they say in Finland, to;  Radio Two favourite Katie Melua (23), actress turned poker player Jennifer Tilly (49) and big Nev, Neville Southall (49.) Today was also the day, that in 1977,  Marc Bolan died in a car crash.

'For once, we're not saying anything...'

The women's golf tours are intent on popularising the game in any way it can. Sex sells, but there are limits and Nikki Garrett is suing the Australian edition of men's mag Zoo, claiming the lads' mag made her out to be a prostitute. The magazine published a picture of a scantily clad Garrett originally taken for the Women of Professional Golf calendar, accompanied by a caption of a sexual nature. Garrett is suing for defamation and breach of copyright.
