"Note to self: Just play this well all year and avoid The Fall Series"

More thrills and spills in the Fall Series yesterday?: I guess you could say that...if you were auditioning for that Sky Sports cliché factory you mentioned the other day. Anyway, Steve Flesch will be thrilled to be four shots in the lead after a 66 which took him to 19-under, tying the PGA TOUR's lowest 54-hole score in relation to par this year.
Impressive, why can't he play like that when all the big-boys are there?: Dunno. It's odd that. Carl Pettersson and Charles Warren are both at a very respectable 15-under too.
And what about the spills?: Spill wise, Jeff Gove who started the day one behind Flesch, shot a 76 to tumble 10 shots out of contention.
Quite the spill. What happened to the IGWT tips?: Well, Pettersson is second as I said and Sean O'Hair is tied seventh at 11-under.
Not bad: No, makes a change...watch them shoot 90's in the final round now we've jinxed them though....

KFC are going to name a tower burger after me you say?

On this day, in 1990, Paul Azinger won the BMW International Open after defeating David Feherty in a playoff.

Paul William Azinger was born in 1960 in Holyoke, Massachusetts and turned pro in 1981. His first win came in 1987 and in the same year he finished second, one shot behind Nick Faldo, in the British Open. Azinger has won one major, the 1993 USPGA Championship, and has had 12 Tour wins to date. Also in 1993, he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma but has continued playing, earning the 1995 GWAA Ben Hogan award as recognition. In 2008, Azinger will captain the American Ryder Cup team in Valhalla.

Also on this day, in 1889, Nintendo was founded by Fusajiro Yamauchi to produce and sell Japanese playing cards. They would not produce their first computer game for roughly another 80 years.

Meanwhile, in 1980, Bob Marley played his last ever concert before kicking the bucket and securing the posthumous honours and record sales that an early death will bring any singer.

And it's, Draga Mašin! As they say in Serbia, to; ex Blue Peter presenter Yvette Fielding (39), Seinfeld star Jason Alexander (48) and the boss, Bruce Springsteen (59.) It would also have been Mongolian emporer Kublai Khan's birthday, had he not died as a result of eating too many animal organs 713 years ago.

Who said The Fall Series wouldn't pull in the punters?

I can barely contain myself!: Really?
Yes! First the PGA Tour brought us The FedEx Cup and now the Fall Series! They just keep giving and giving! I feel almost tearful…: You’re being sarcastic aren’t you…
Yes I am. But tell me the news anyway: Steve ‘Flesh Of My’ Flesch shot a 7-under 65 to lead after two rounds at 13-under. He was one stroke ahead of first-round co-leader Jeff Gove and Brendon de Jonge, who had a second straight 66. Charles Warren was a further shot back in fourth place.
How are the InGolfWeTrust tips doing?: Carl Petterson is tied 8th, Sean O'Hair is tied 42nd and Brian Gay is at home kicking the cat after missing the cut.
Any other fascinating facts?:
At 4-under, the cut is the second lowest of the season.
And the lowest was…?: A staggering 18-under at The Wyndham Championship.
Really?!: No, only kidding. It was 5-under.
And the point of that was…?: Dunno, I was bored I suppose.
Pathetic: Sorry…

'Rob, do you like my new shades? Rob...?'

Hiya!: What’s wrong with you?
Nothing wrong with being in a good mood is there?: That depends…
Depends on what?: Depends on whether you spent the second day of The British Masters getting soaked to the skin before shooting a monstrous 86 and missing the cut by a mile, like Oli Fisher.
Ah, right. Who’s winning, then?: It was a Dutch masterclass…
…Hang on, can I stop you there?: Why?
Because you can sod off to Sky Sports if you want to work at a sporting cliché factory: Oh, right. Well, Robert-Jan Derksen, who is from Holland, and Mark Foster, who is from Worksop, share the lead at 7-under, with five players a shot back Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter among them.
What’s the scoop with Foster, then?: 62nd in the Order Of Merit, he has two English Amateur titles to his name and one European Tour victory. He shot a sparkling 66 on a stinking day
And how about the InGolfWeTrust tips?: Lee Westwood is tied 3rd after a second round 70, Colin Montgomerie is tied 8th after a pair of 70s, while Darren Clarke missed the cut after a second round 78.
Well, thanks a lot. You have a lovely day now…: Freak…

Butler (left): 'Of course I'll buy you a pint after, Brian...'

The first Ryder Cup was held in Scotland on this day in 1973. The US won its eighth competition in a row with a 19-13 victory, memorable for Bernard Gallacher pulling out with food poisoning when Great Britain were 51/2 to 2 ½ up. Peter Butler was summoned as a replacement to partner Brian Barnes and became the first player in Ryder Cup history to record a hole-in-one. Still lost though…
On this day in 1862, President Abraham Lincoln issued the preliminary Emancipation Proclamation, declaring all slaves in rebel states should be free from the first day of 1863. In 1955, the future wealth of Ant & Dec is secured with the launch of the first independent television station, the ITA.
It’s tillukku vid fodingardegnum! as they say in the Faroe Islands to fading Brazilian netbuster Ronaldo (31), Nigerian juju music legend King Sunny Ade (61), goth icon Nick Cave (50) and suffragette Dame Christabel Pankhurst, daughter of Emmeline, who would have been 127 years-old today, had she not passed away in the US in 1958.
