At least I didn't have ice cream on top...

It's the biggest golf expo on the planet. Every new club, every gadget and gizmo - all here in Orlando, Florida. In time, we'll get round to that, but first we'd like to unveil an unusual combination of bananas, orange, sausages and bacon, but we didn't get where we are today by ordering conventional breakfasts.

We also didn't get wherever we are with conventional thinking. Just check out the text from our deputy editor at InGolfWeTrust before departure: "If you want to make yourself really popular amongst the locals in Florida, just tell them that Californians don't think that they live in a real state. If you really want to push it, tell them that California has better oranges than Florida. Oh yeah, and ask them how their baseball teams are doing. Then duck!!!! :)"

We'll report back on how well it goes...

Little Tadd Fujikawa, all 5-foot-1 of him, got scared so much by giant palm trees chasing him around Waialae CC that he missed the cut at the Sony Open in Hawaii.

* Not everyone has had the pleasure of meeting the gent just yet.

"I hate watching golf. I've got to be honest with you, I hate the announcers. If anyone writes that, can you please say, 'He busted out laughing?' ''

Wonder who Paul Azinger was talking about in Hawaii? ... One thing for certain now, Azinger is winning the Ryder Cup captains' battle of wits 2 rounds to 0 so far, and it's starting to look like he's America's Floyd Mayweather Jr in the banter division compared to Nick Faldo's version of Ricky Hatton ...

The Wanamaker Trophy, the biggest (physically) prize in golf, might weigh as much as supermodel Kate Moss, but that's no problem for a strapping young lad like Tiger Woods ...

On this day in 1916, over steaks and cocktails at a posh club on Broadway in New York City, the PGA of America was born during a business lunch hosted by the department store heir Rodman Wanamaker. The host, realising the potential for America to have an association similar to Britain's Professional Golfers' Association of Great Britain, invited 35 pro and amateur golfers to a luncheon at the Taplow Club in the Hotel Martinique.

The food and drink must have been good, because at the end of the day, everybody said "what a jolly good idea this is", and Wanamaker donated $2,500 (a pretty healthy $48,000 in today's money) to establish the PGA of America, the prize money for the first PGA Championship, and it's great big whopping trophy (which needs to be big to fit Wanamaker's name on it) ...

It's a big world out there, and Tiger will be in precious few places in 2008 ...

Forget for a moment that the PGA Tour is now back in full swing, and that the European Tour kicks off again after a brief hiatus, the LPGA is waiting in the wings, and we've got all four of the big majors to look forward to. Let's focus on the tour that you probably really care about: The Tiger Tour ...
