Adam Scott: 'I'd like to thank my mum and the National Azalea Club of Australia'

With The Masters just round the corner, players have been taking the opportunity to head to Augusta for some sneaky preparation. Adam Scott took a trip there Monday, accompanied by Fred Couples, Nick Watney and coach Butch Harmon. The young Aussie said the best part was the chance to stay in Stephens Cabin, one of 10 residential cabins on the property.

Can you tell Hogan from Ford? Hint: Hogan's got a golf club, you ding-dong!

On this day in 1951, the motion picture Follow The Sun: The Ben Hogan Story, starring Glenn Ford and Anne Baxter, had its premiere in Ben Hogan's hometown of Fort Worth, Texas, as Hollywood shamelessly capitalised on the Wee Ice Man's near-fatal 1949 auto accident and miraculous recovery.

Hogan rebounded from the whammy of having himself played on the silver screen by a Canadian whose first name was actually Gwyllyn but who only bore more than a passing resemblance to himself, possibly because Hogan's few mates on the PGA Tour - Cary Middlecoff, Sam Snead and Jimmy Demaret - all lent some credibility to the film ... which, we have to admit, isn't bad for a golf movie of that era ...

Adam Scott was watching some un-Tiger-like putting, while Vijay liked the looks of his drives ...

Hah! I told you so! ...: Told me what?
I told you that you would have to put Geoff Ogilvy's picture on the front of the website again, you idiot!: Yes you did, but that doesn't mean I had to put his picture on the site front. In fact, I actually thought I might not.
What? But he's the leader !!: He's only technically the leader. OK, he's got the lowest score at 14-under, but he hasn't finished his third round yet. Nor have 60 other guys, including Tiger Woods, who like Ogilvy has only finished 11 holes of Round 3.
Yeah, but you were still wrong about Ogilvy ...:
Maybe, maybe not. If he finishes his third round as the leader, then I'll pay up the bet.
You could have put up a picture of Vijay Singh ...: Yeah, he's the guy who played the best on Round 3 when everyone ate up Doral except for Tiger. Vijay is 8-under on his round after 16 holes, with a short birdie putt to tidy up in the morning. We'll see how low he can go, he's three back of Ogilvy as well.
Or you could have put up a picture of Adam Scott ...: That's true. Adam is in second on 13-under for a while, but he was the outright leader for a while on Saturday, so he's as good a pick as anyone else for the site front. I just used Ogilvy's pic to appease you.
Well, you couldn't use Tiger ...: Why not?
Tiger played like crap today. He three-jacked on the first two holes after lipping out two four-foot putts ...: I don't see how that's "playing like crap". To me, it seems human for once, but if that's Tiger's bad patch for this tournament then he's going to win. He played great from tee to green. If I told you that Tiger would only be trailing by three strokes with 25 holes left to play, would you still think he had a good chance? Just ask JB Holmes how Tiger does when everyone thinks he's out of it.
Uh, yeah, I guess so ...: Well, that's the story. Anyway, the only thing I bet you was that Ogilvy's picture wouldn't be on our website come Sunday morning.
Hah! So you lost! ...: Yeah, but I meant Monday.
You're an idiot!: You better run!

Poults: 'And for my next trick, I'm going to trying driving with my putter ...'

Sergio Garcia has tried carrying two putters in his bag to help his fragile confidence on the greens. Ian Poulter had to try something new on Saturday at Doral - getting through the rest of his round with zero putters. He putted out with a wedge,  and it was a thing of beauty.

The flashy Englishman ran afoul of the rulebook in his third round, but to his credit, he called attention to his own dilemma, didn't suffer any penalties, and the loss of his putter for the last four holes of his even-par round of 72 didn't hurt him much. Here's what happened ...
