Jack Nicklaus: 'My preciousss. Tricksy hobbitses trying to take my Claret Jug...'

On this day in 1978, Jack Nicklaus won his 15th Major title and his second Open at St Andrews. The Golden Bear finished at 7-under-par 281 for a two-stroke margin over Ben Crenshaw, Raymond Floyd, Tom Kite, and Simon Owen at the Old Course at St. Andrews in Scotland.

Royal Birkdale: I'd love to take my new BMX over those dunes...

Was it really ten years ago that Justin Rose pitched in on the 18th and Mark O'Meara hoisted the Claret Jug? Well, yes, it was... what we're getting at is that the memories from Birkdale's last Open in 1998 remain the same, but the course itself has changed a bit. Here's to more great memories...

NO. 2: John Daly

If there's one golfer who never lived up to his potential talent, it's John Daly. Even though he won the 1995 Open sans tache, we reckon he played his best golf when he had that atrocious redneck ginger slug over his lips. All you have to do is look at his 'zero to hero' win at the 1991 PGA Championship.

Azor - King Of ShavesAzor says: I don't care about that Wanamaker Trophy in his hands or the fact that he's one of golf's most colourful characters. I just can't take him seriously with that stupid ginger moustache...

Don't ask us how, but we've managed to find enough time in our schedule to make a digital magazine on this week's Open Championship at Royal Birkdale. We made it for our good mates at RBS originally, but if you click HERE, you can have a look at it too. It's packed full with everything you need to know about all the best bits from the Championship's history and what's more... it's completely free.

If you needed another reminder, click HERE to have a look and get involved...
