Padraig Harrington: 'Who's switched the lights off again...'

Yeeeehaw. Greg Norman won...: No, he didn't.

Really? I thought he did?: Not sure where you got your information from, but it's wrong. Padraig Harrington did what he needed to...

Harrington? Didn't he win it last year?: Yep. He posted a final round 69 (one under) to finish three over for the tournament. Porridge is the first european golfer to win to back-to-back Opens since Harry Vardon in 1899. Not bad work from the Irishman when you think about it...

William Hunt with 2007 winner Steve Cowle: 'Hands off, Will...'

The world's greatest sartorial golf-fest is back in full swing when the William Hunt Trilby Tour 2008's signature event tees up at the lovely Buckinghamshire Golf Club next week. Professional and amateur golfers will gear it up and tee it up at Hunt's showcase - a one-of-a-kind blend of top golf and style run by the Savile Row thread-meister to showcase his wears, as well as some of the best young golf swings in Britain ...

After Porridge, Poults and Greg had all gone home, the Beast of Birkdale came out to play for what we think will be the last time. Similar to the Loch Ness Monster, it seems the mystery of this tiger-like creature will never be solved.

'It had some sort of knee brace on its left knee, but I can't be sure,' said eyewitness Luther Zulu. 'It just ran out across the 18th fairway. The next thing I remember after that is waking up dazed and confused in the Bollinger tent.'

Ian Poulter: 'Can't wait to have a chicken korma off this plate...'

What a great day it was for Cobra's Ian Poulter, who nearly hoisted the Claret Jug had it not been for that pesky Porridge Harrington fella. Titleist's Paul Waring will also be a chappy after impressing some bloke called Phil Mickelson with a final round of 71...

Sandy Lyle: 'And to think I nearly retired in the first round...'

On this day in 1985, Sandy Lyle’s one shot Open victory over Payne Stewart at Royal St Georges made him the first British winner in 16 years. At the start of the final day Sandy was three shots behind overnight leaders Bernhard Langer and Australian David Graham.
