Henrik Stenson
We all know that Henrik Stenson can absolutely melt a golf ball off the tee. But would the big Swede come apart at the seams when confronted with a series of quick-fire questions about his country's most famous export, ABBA? ... Sure, he's the highest ranked Swedish golfer ever. But you see, pounding the hell out of a poor defenceless Srixon golf ball is a bit easier for Henrik than our devilishly tricky 20-point pop quiz about ... Henrik Stenson.

IGWT: Ok, here we go. When you won the Heritage in 2004 for your second European Tour win, how many birdies did you make in a row on the back nine in the final
round?
HS: Ahh … four.
IGWT: That's correct.
IGWT: And do you remember who finished second and third behind you?
HS: Oohh … ummm, I think Rodiles and … Derksen maybe?
IGWT: You got the first one right. I'll give you another go on the second one.
HS: OK, ummm ... I'm going to go with Sjöland. I played with him that day.
IGWT: You are absolutely correct, Henrik.

IGWT: When you reached No. 5 in the Official World Golf Rankings last year, you became the highest ranked Swedish golfer ever. Can you guess what year Jesper Parnevik made it to
No. 7 in the world?
HS: In 2000.
IGWT: That's right.

IGWT: You had a crazy amount of air travel between November and now on your way to Spain, China, Japan, South Africa, Orlando, Los Angeles, Hawaii and back to Dubai. Can you
estimate how many air miles you flew to the nearest 5000 miles?
HS: I probably did about 90 hours in the plane. I don't do "miles". But I think they fly about 600 miles per hour, which should make that - uh what is it - 54000 miles. I'm going with
55000 miles.
IGWT: We estimated it was 45250 air miles.
HS: Ah, OK. Some of the planes are flying slow then.

IGWT: Can you remember the three tournaments you won on the Challenge Tour in 2000?
HS: Yes, the Luxembourg Open, Gula Sidorna Grand Prix and the Grand Final.
IGWT: That's correct. Just out of curiosity, can you tell us what three countries border Luxembourg?
HS: Umm, that's interesting. I would say Belgium, France and Holland.
IGWT: Almost. Germany is the other one.

IGWT: Your first European Tour win came back in 2001 at the B&H International at the Belfry. What were your four-round scores from that tournament?
HS: Each of them? Yes, I know this. I did 66, 68, 70, 71.
IGWT: It was 66-68-71-70.
HS: Ah. I wasn't sure about the weekend, but I got the scores right ... I should get at least half a point for that.
IGWT: Do you remember how much in pounds sterling you won for that victory?
HS: £166,000.
IGWT: Correct. No problem on the half-point.
HS: Thanks.

IGWT: What do you think was your average driving distance in 2007 on the European Tour, within five yards?
HS: I'd say I had 297.
IGWT: It was 300.74, so that's good enough.

IGWT: How many holes did you play over the five days when you won the Accenture Match Play Championship last year in Arizona?
HS: Oh, let's see ... My first match went 18 holes, second match went 18 holes, the third went 16 holes, the fourth was 18 holes, the fifth was 15 holes, and then the final was 35
holes. So what's that then? ... I got to work this out now don't I? ... Seven rounds makes it a total of (7 times 18) ... 126 holes, and I played a total of, ahhh, six holes less than full 18. So it must be 120
holes then.
IGWT: Well done. That's correct. In your post-round interview after the Match Play, you said you "couldn't be happy" right away. Do you remember why you said that?
HS: Because I was tired, completely exhausted. I've never been so tired in my life before, physically and mentally.
IGWT: You got it. You said, "I'm too tired to be happy, almost ..."

IGWT: You were age 30 and ranked No. 11 in the world when you beat Vaughn Taylor to gain the winning points for Europe in the Ryder Cup. Vaughn Taylor was 30 years old as well.
But do you remember Vaughn Taylor's world ranking at the time?
HS: I guess, ummm, 60th?
IGWT: Very good guess. That's spot on.
HS: That was a lucky shot! That's nice. I'm gonna beat those other guys with these questions.

IGWT: Here's a harder one ... On the final day in the Ryder Cup, what colour were the European team's shirts?
HS: Red and blue I think … No, wait! Red and black.
IGWT: It was pink with red trim collar and sleeves.
HS: Pink? I got to question that one.
IGWT: OK, we'll check that one to make sure ... * (See editor's note). What colour was the wig you were wearing at the victory celebration?
HS: Green.
IGWT: Shockingly green, we might say ... Did you care that it didn't match the shirt?
HS: Not at that moment ... I lost it though. David Howell took it and wore it for a while. It must be in his closet or something.

IGWT: One more tricky one from the Ryder Cup. What colour bow tie did you wear to the Ryder Cup Gala Dinner?
HS: Red.
IGWT: That's right. And what colour dress did your girlfriend Emma wear?
HS: She was in a black dress.
IGWT: Correct again. You are going good with these questions.

IGWT: This one might be a toughie. You were born in 1976, when the Swedish supergroup ABBA were at their top. How many No. 1 singles did ABBA have in 1976?
HS: Probably about 10.
IGWT: It was 3.
HS: (Laughs) Well, I was positive! Go ABBA!!!
IGWT: Can you name them?
HS:: I'm going to say Dancing Queen, Gimme Gimme and SOS.
IGWT: It was Mamma Mia, Fernando, Dancing Queen.
HS: Oh yes, Mamma Mia. I should have guessed that one.
IGWT: What do you have in common with Agnetha Fältskog, the singer of ABBA?
HS: That we were both born in Gothenburg?
IGWT: Nope. She's from Jönköping. The answer is you were both born on the same day, April 5.
HS: Oh, OK. It was not the same year though! (laughs)
IGWT: How many years older is Agnetha than you?
HS: I'd say roughly 20, maybe 21 years.
IGWT: It is 26 years. She was born in 1950.
HS: See, I was kind to the lady ...

IGWT: And one more really hard one! ... You're known for wearing your Oakley sunglasses on the course. But do you know that Oakley did not manufacture sunglasses at first? What
did the company first go into business selling?
HS: I guess normal prescription glasses.
IGWT: It was grips for motorcycle handlebars.
HS: Really? I've been with them for 10 years and I didn't know that. That's interesting.

IGWT: That's it. Thanks for your time, Henrik, and have a good week this week.
HS: No problem. Thank you.
(* Emmm, we've got the proof in the photograph above. It looks pink to us. OK, maybe it's actually tiny red and white stripes close up, but it looks pink to us. Certainly not red and black. Sorry, big guy! - Ed.)
